Who we are
Don began woodworking at 12 years old. On his 12 birthday, his parents gave him a jigsaw. They told him every boy needs a hobby. From that day forward Don has been woodworking since he was a teenager. He has competed in national shows and has regular requests for his work.
We only use responsibly sourced woods. In some cases, we may even cut the trees down or harvest from fallen trees ourselves. You can know that all of our woods come from local businesses. It is our goal to have zero waste. As proof of our commitment, we regularly give our sawdust to local farmers to use as mulch and compost.
The Gray ohana moved to the Big Island in 2014. They have been immersed in local culture. Mrs. Gray is a schoolteacher. Don is the pastor of Grace Baptist Church by his day job. They have raised their three children on the island. Don loves fishing, boating, woodworking, engines, and poke. He loves his wife and kids. But he loves Jesus most of all.
Don strives to reflect local style into his work. The goal is to create something that locals can see a nod to the history of Hawaii while utilizing modern design and techniques. No matter what you need, if it involves wood we can make it for you.
